| The Concept |
|
|
|
 The inspiration for Treehotel is taken from the movie “The Tree Lover” by Jonas Selberg Augustsén. A tale of three men from the city who rediscover their roots by building a tree house together. “The Tree Lover” is a philosophical story about the tree’s importance to our people, both historically and culturally.
The idea behind Treehotel is to offer a high-standard accommodation in a harmonious setting where daily stress quickly fades away and guests can enjoy the peace and purity of unspoiled nature.
Together with some of Scandinavia’s leading architects, five uniquely designed treerooms were created in Harads, approximately fifty kilometres outside the city of Luleå. The treerooms are located 4-6 meter above ground, all with spectacular views of the Lule river.
A very important part of the concept is to make a minimal ecological footprint. Therefore, the hotel is built around the ecological values in which substantial resources have been devoted to finding sustainable construction and energy solutions. |

 The location of this treeroom was chosen based on the idea of creating a platform high up on the hillside overlooking the Lule river valley. Guests enter the hut through a horizontal bridge among the trees. At the end of the bridge is a large wooden deck.
The bridge is a long and interesting structure among the trees and in the future, additional viewingdecks, restingspots, as well as new bridges can be connected. The Cabin hangs slightly off-center, under the deck. Partly to visually reduce the volume and partly to give the treeroom its own expression.
The cabin is like a capsule, a foreign object in the trees. The room is 24 m2 and can accommodate two people, with double bed, bathroom and terrace. |
