The original “Villaggio Solvay” was built after the Solvay company set up a factory for the production of soda. The houses were built on the Belgian model and are of nine different typologies; number 1 for the director, no. 2 (absent at Rosignano Solvay) and no. 3 for executives, from no. 4 to no. 8 for white-collar workers, no. 9 for workmen. The plans were drawn up and signed by the Solvay technical office, though Belgian architect Jules Brunfault is considered the inspirer also because the typologies are the same as the villages built in Belgium and France. |
