DESCRIPTION

.
Fernandes Arquitetos Associados, Daniel Fernandes Hopf, Hospital Regional em Caraguatatuba, São Paulo, BrazilFernandes Arquitetos is responsible for the project design of the new Regional Hospital in Caraguatatuba together with MHA Engenharia. Located in Caraguatatuba, a town in the north coast of São Paulo, the hospital will be built in an area of 20.226,96 m2 area, next to the Serramar Mall and on the edge of SP-55 Road (Rio-Santos), which links the town with São Sebastião.

Fernandes Arquitetos Associados, Daniel Fernandes Hopf, Hospital Regional em Caraguatatuba, São Paulo, BrazilIn order to meet with the functional requirements of a hospital, the project provides the operation of 202 beds, considering 40 beds for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with a total building area of approximately 24.000 m2.

The starting point for the project development was the macro- sectorization of the several functional units predicted in the project program. Based on a study of the necessary areas, the relationship between sectors and flows, it was possible to outline some compatible alternatives to the terrain and its constructive potential. Additionally, flows and emergency exits were studied in compliance with the Fire Department to the County Law and the RDC (ANVISA). This study was important for the definition of the building type, as the minimal distances to be traveled and the amount of stairs needed, defined the project concept where horizontal distances had to be reduced. Last but not least, the terrain orientation and design alternatives were analyzed in order to provide more comfort for the patients regarding insolation, lighting and natural ventilation.

After all those analyzes, it was concluded that the best alternative would be to consolidate on the ground floor the sectors with higher demand and on top, a 5-floor tower distributed according to its functionalities.
